The Los Angeles Zoo celebrates Lunar New Year at L.A. Zoo Lights from Jan. 6 through Jan. 22, with colorful, family-friendly festivities marking the Year of the Rabbit on the lunar calendar. Lunar New Year is observed by numerous cultures, including Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean, and is celebrated widely in Los Angeles’ diverse communities.
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, from Jan. 6-22, the zoo presents a full lineup of activities included with L.A. Zoo Lights: Animals Aglow. Celebrate the year of the rabbit with a glow-in-the-dark dragon dance parade, lion dance show, kung fu showcase and acrobatics, fan dancers, calligraphy, a Wall of Well Wishes, food trucks and more.
L.A. Zoo Lights is a wildlife-centric LED lights display that showcases over 30 of the zoo’s most beloved animals including giraffes, elephants, orangutans, lemurs, koalas, condors and other charismatic inhabitants. The 60- to 90-minute stroll through L.A. Zoo Lights takes guests through desert, garden and jungle landscapes filled with larger-than-life glowing sculptures, magical lights and immersive exhibits in a dazzling display of light and color.
There are several animated and interactive displays and photo opportunities for guests to enjoy. Tickets to L.A. Zoo Lights start at $32 for children (2-12) and $39 for adults (13+). All ages welcome.
