In response to the article about the closure of La Brea Bakery in the Jan. 19 issue, Aspire Bakeries, La Brea Bakery’s parent company, issued the following statement: “The company did not close the cafes to focus on ‘business strategy’ and to do so called ‘restaurant business.’ La Brea Bakery exited the restaurant business.”
