Join film producers Jonathan Yunger and Hank Hoffman for a Jan. 9 pre-screening and Q&A of their Hasidic horror film “The Offering” at American Jewish University.
Set after the disappearance of a young Jewish girl, the movie follows the son of a Hasidic funeral director who returns home with his pregnant wife, hoping to reconcile with his father. But in the family morgue beneath them lurks an ancient evil inside a corpse, with sinister plans for the unborn child. Tapping into Jewish mysticism, “The Offering” blends harrowing drama with an exciting twist on classic horror conventions.
After the screening, Yunger and Hoffman, who is also a screenwriter, will join AJU chief innovation officer Rabbi Sherre Hirsch for a conversation about the film.
The pre-screening is at 6 p.m. at AJU’s Familian Campus, 15600 Mulholland Drive. Tickets are $18. For information, visit aju.edu /events/person-pre-screening-offering-tale-ancient-hasidic-demons.
