Gov. Gavin Newsom on Dec. 23 announced the nomination of Judge Shama Hakim Mesiwala as an associate justice of the Third District Court of Appeal. The governor also announced his appointment of Diane Goodman, Angel Navarro and Terry Truong as judges on the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Goodman, 64, has been a sole practitioner since 2010. She was formerly partner at the Law Office of Goodman & Metz from 1994-2010, and an associate at the Law Office of Goldstein & Goodman from 1990-94.
Navarro, 58, has served as a commissioner at the Los Angeles County Superior Court since 2022, and has been a sole practitioner since 2010. He served as a supervising deputy federal public defender from 2004-10 and served as a deputy federal public defender from 1992-2004. Navarro earned a juris doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.
Truong, 55, has served as a commissioner at the Los Angeles County Superior Court since 2014. Previously, she served as a deputy county counsel at the Los Angeles County Counsel’s Office from 2013-14, a referee at the Los Angeles County Superior Court from 2007-13, and as a research attorney from 1997-2007. Truong earned a juris doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.
