Aviva Family and Children’s Services has announced that Amber Rivas has been named president and chief executive officer, effective Jan. 3.
Rivas has more than 17 years of experience at St. Anne’s Family Services in Los Angeles, most recently serving as chief operating officer. While at St. Anne’s, Rivas helped open a new permanent supportive housing complex, facilitated the transition of its group home to a short-term residential therapeutic program, and expanded the Early Head Start services at two new early learning centers, all while managing the daily operations of the organization.
“For more than 100 years, Aviva Family and Children’s Services has grown and changed to meet the needs of our community’s most vulnerable residents,” said Jonathan Werner, chair of Aviva’s Board of Directors. “Amber Rivas’s extensive experience and deep understanding of the environment facing organizations like Aviva will help us continue our mission of serving our Los Angeles community.”
Aviva provides foster care and adoption services, supportive housing for women and children, and community mental health and crisis intervention services.
“I am honored to join Aviva Family and Children’s Services,” Rivas said. “Aviva has a sterling reputation and a solid team of professionals who care deeply about children and families in crisis. As president and CEO, I will work to support these leaders and the families and children who work with us to help them build brighter futures.”
