Join leaders from the Iranian American community at 5 p.m. on Dec. 4 at the Maas Center for Jewish Journeys of American Jewish University to learn more about the Iranian revolts.
Titled “Baraye Iran,” which means “for Iran in Persian,” the event will feature a panel moderated by Rabbi Tarlan Rabizadeh, AJU’s vice president for Jewish Engagement, and a Q&A session.
“All Iranians deserve human rights. This isn’t a religious or political issue, it’s a human rights issue,” Rabizadeh said. “This is something everyone should be speaking about. I hope this event will raise awareness of what’s going on, why we should all care, and educate our broader community on how we can lend our voices to this urgent crisis.”
The current protests in Iran began in September.
“So many Iranian Jews in the United States have given up hope,” said Matthew Nouriel, program coordinator for JIMENA and social media activist. “It is important for the Jewish community to stand in support of the Iranian people fighting this righteous and noble fight. I hope this event will uplift the brave voices in Iran and ultimately inspire our local community to act.”
