KP Projects on La Brea Avenue presents artist Todd Schorr’s “Rattlebrain Melodrama” opening on Saturday Nov. 5, with a reception from 7-10 p.m.

Schorr’s works are heavily symbolic, rendered with 19th century stylistic considerations and composition for complex storytelling. From religious and mythological tales and serial comics, Schorr borrows allegorical narrative strategies for his paintings.

The artist was born in New Jersey and moved to Los Angeles in 1999. He began drawing at an early age and was enrolled in Saturday morning art classes by the age of 5. Later inspired by fantasy movies such as the 1933 classic “King Kong,” the early animated cartoons of Walt Disney and Max Fleischer, and comic books such as Mad, Schorr’s developed his technique combining his love of cartoons with the techniques of old masters.
