Los Angeles City Councilmembers Kevin De Leon and Gil Cedillo must go.
What concerned me the most is [former] Council President Martinez’s statement, “… this kid needs a beatdown. Let me take him around the corner…,” as reported in the L.A. Times.
As someone who’s earliest childhood memory is being grabbed by my hair, yanked off my feet and repeatedly slammed face first into a wall, I can tell you Martinez is a sick, sick person to state with zeal that a “beatdown” of a 2-year-old is an attractive, useful and necessary course of action. And the silence of Councilmembers Kevin de Leon and Gil Cedillo, upon witnessing this, makes them equally culpable, that a “beatdown” of a 2 year old is OK.
Consider this is a dire warning to us all. There is an old saying to believe it when people tell you who they really are. And past behavior is the greatest predictor of future behavior.
Do you trust these [people] to remain in power? As citizens, it is an attractive, useful and necessary course of action to demand that [they] resign. Now!
