The Beverly Hills City Council issued a proclamation on Sept. 20 recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Munich Olympic Games massacre in 1972, which claimed the lives of 11 Israeli athletes. The proclamation was given to Consul General of Israel Hillel Newman and Deputy Consul General Amit Mekel. Councilman Lester Friedman, left, joined Mekel, Beverly Hills Vice Mayor Julian Gold, Newman, Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse, Councilman John Mirisch and Councilwoman Sharona Nazarian at the ceremony.
