Metro has announced that decking removal and street restoration on Wilshire Boulevard between Highland and La Brea avenues will be complete on June 27, two weeks ahead of schedule.
Wilshire Boulevard will still be closed from 9 p.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. on Monday for the next two weekends. Motorists are advised to use Sixth Street as a detour around the project site. Local access to Wilshire Boulevard will be maintained at Mansfield and Citrus avenues.
Permanent curb and gutter restoration begins in the area June 27. Crews will install a K-rail work zone on the north side of Wilshire Boulevard between Mansfield and La Brea avenues for the work.
Construction of the station entrance at Wilshire/La Brea will continue through September in the North La Brea staging yard. Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between Orange Drive and Detroit Street. Construction hours are 7 a.m.-10 p.m., with some clean-up work from 10 p.m.-midnight.
Near Wilshire/Fairfax, crews are working underground on appendage structures adjacent to the main subway station.
Lanes on eastbound Wilshire Boulevard may also be closed on weekends between Wilshire/La Cienega and Wilshire/Fairfax. The directional closures will be implemented from 9 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Monday.
Work continues at staging yards along Wilshire Boulevard for the future subway station at Wilshire/La Cienega. Work in the Gale staging yard and underneath Wilshire Boulevard will occur 24 hours and a crane within the Gale staging yard will be operational.
Near Wilshire/Rodeo, crews are working underground on cross passages between the tunnels. The work will be conducted at 14 locations along the tunnel alignment and will require lane and sidewalk closures. Work along Lasky Drive and Charleville Boulevard is anticipated to begin on June 20 and take two to four weeks to complete.
