Pink’s Hot Dogs on La Brea Avenue is celebrating KTLA’s 75th anniversary on July 5 and raising money for Los Angeles Family Housing, an organization helping people transition out of homelessness and poverty. KTLA’s Wendy Burch will broadcast live from Pink’s from 8 a.m-5 p.m. on July 5, and Pink’s famous chili dogs will be 75¢, limit one per customer. Richard Pink, who operates the stand with his wife Gloria and sister Beverly Pink-Wolfe, said it is important to celebrate an L.A. institution like KTLA and give back to the community.

“We wanted to celebrate KTLA’s 75th anniversary. They are celebrating at Pink’s and recognizing a restaurant that’s been around for 82 years,” Pink said. “Both have become icons in Los Angeles, and we are making it a charity event as well.”

“This is a perfect partnership with Pink’s, as they have helped us put the ‘fun’ in fundraising for L.A. Family Housing,” said Janene Drafs, vice president and general manager of KTLA. “We are inviting our faithful KTLA viewers to celebrate our station’s 75th anniversary with a 75¢ hot dog on July 5, and savor the fact that at end of the day, those proceeds are going to help the homeless here in L.A.”

Drafs said an additional $10,000 donation to L.A. Family Housing will be made by the Nexstar Charitable Foundation.

“We are proud to be affiliated with a company who is committed to giving back to the communities they serve across the country,” Drafs added.

Pink said 100% of proceeds from sales of the chili dogs from 8 a.m-5 p.m. on July 5 will be donated to Los Angeles Family Housing. He said the stand regularly raises money for community-serving organizations through its Chili Dogs for Charity program.

“It’s a major charity and an important cause,” Pink added. “We are going to hang a banner on July 3 recognizing KTLA’s anniversary. It’s going to be a great celebration.”
