The Alex Film Society presents the 10th annual “Greatest Classic Cartoons Ever” program on Sunday, June 5, at 2 p.m. at the historic Hollywood Legion Theater.

Thanks to a new partnership between the Alex Film Society, Hollywood Legion Theater and Hollywood Heritage, the film society will present its postponed Christmas cartoons show at the Hollywood Legion Theater. The event, previously held at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, will feature iconic cartoons from Hollywood’s golden age. Animation historian Jerry Beck and animation director Frank Gladstone will present the program, which includes short tributes to Tex Avery and Dave Fleischer.

The program includes “Ha! Ha! Ha!” (1934), with Betty Boop and Koko the Clown; “The Wise Quacking Duck” (1943) with Daffy Duck; “Somewhere in Dreamland” (1936) featuring Mae Questel; “Crackpot Quail” (1941) with Quail the Dog; “Terror on the Midway” (1942) featuring Superman; “Ski for Two” (1944) with Woody Woodpecker; “We’re On Our Way to Rio” (1944) starring Popeye; “The Shooting of Dan McGoo” (1945) featuring Tex Avery; “Lonesome Lenny” (1946) with Screwy Squirrel; and “Bully for Bugs” (1953) starring Bugs Bunny.

The event includes a raffle. The Hollywood Legion Theater is located at 2035 N. Highland Ave. Parking is $5 in the lot behind the theater. Free parking will be available across Highland Avenue in front of the Hollywood Heritage Museum in an area also known as Hollywood Bowl Lot D. Enter the lot from Odin Street or Milner Road.
