The Hollywood film industry and international diplomats will reunite in support of the people of Ukraine for “A Night For Ukraine,” on June 23 at 7 p.m. at the Saban Theatre.
“We need the Ukraine voices to be heard, they need the support of the Hollywood film industry,” said Valentina Castellani-Quinn, chairman of Quinn Studios Entertainment, who is producing with Konstantin Fam, IFAM Inc. and Save Ukraine Life. The celebration is produced in partnership with Dmytro Kushneruk, the consulate general of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Cultural Institute, Beverly Hills Temple of the Arts and Creative Visions.
The Ukrainian entry for the 2022 Oscars, “Bad Roads,” will screen at the event.
“When the film was a candidate for an Academy Award, the Ukraine conflict started … and director Natalka Vorozhbyt had to fly back urgently to her country, taking interviews from a shelter. It was impossible to run a proper Oscar campaign for the film. We are finally honored to share this film with the international audience on this important evening.”
Before the screening, Kushneruk will give remarks, as will the director of the Ukraine Cultural Institute, Laryssa Reifel. Pianist Angelika Fuchs and violinist Myroslava Khomik will also play a short piece by Ukrainian composer Dmytro Gordon.
After “Bad Roads” concludes, a panel and will feature Vorozhbyt, Fam, moderator Castellani-Quinn and Jon Purizhanky, founder of Joblio, a social impact company assisting Ukrainian refugees relocate to the safety of Canada and the U.S. by securing employment and housing. “We tried to cover each possible aspects in order to help Ukraine, from giving them a voice here in Hollywood, to show the reality of the conflict, but also bringing companies such as Joblio or Organizations like Save Ukraine Life, who can concretely help in effective ways our beautiful country and fellow citizens in Ukraine,” Fam said. “We also collect funds to film a documentary on the current conflict, recording history, hoping it will never happen again.”
