West Hollywood is holding activities to engage its population of older adults during Senior Month, which is celebrated every May. West Hollywood’s ongoing efforts to support and celebrate older adults is part of its commitment to being an aging-friendly city.
The West Hollywood Senior Advisory Board meeting will take place virtually on Wednesday, May 25, at 2 p.m., and issues of importance to the older adult community will be discussed. Other activities include “Jewish Wagons West” on Tuesday, May 17 and 24, at 1 p.m., where viewers can learn about the hazardous journey and experiences of Jewish Americans as they migrated West. The program will be presented by award-winning journalist Andree Aelion Brooks.
Join “For Your Health-Let’s Talk About Depression: Managing Stress and Anxiety” on Tuesday, May 10 and 17, at noon, presented by Dr. Amit Parikh of Optum-Mission Hills.
“I am Not a Virus: Revisiting the Perpetual Foreigner Stereotype in the Time of COVID-19″ will be held on Wednesday, May 11, at 11 a.m. The virtual program and museum visit will be presented by the New York Museum of Chinese Art.
Older adults are also encouraged to join “Seniors In Action: Community + Connection + Conversation” on Tuesday, May 24, at 1 p.m. The program will include activities that provide engaging opportunities for participants to learn something new, contribute their talents and experience, and deepen their connection to the West Hollywood community.
