Police arrested a male suspect on April 28 after he allegedly robbed a victim at gunpoint in a ride-hailing service pick-up and drop-off area outside the Beverly Center.
The robbery was reported at approximately 1:10 p.m. in the 8500 block of Beverly Boulevard. The victim, who was wearing a luxury watch, was followed by the suspect, police said. As the victim attempted to get in a vehicle, the suspect allegedly confronted him and demanded his watch. During the struggle, the suspect struck the victim, who sustained a laceration, police said. The victim complied and gave his watch to the suspect, who fled on foot.
Witnesses called police and helped officers locate the suspect, who was taken into custody at an undisclosed location near the crime scene. Authorities searched the area and recovered the watch and a loaded handgun believed to have been used by the suspect, police said.
