The Tower Cancer Research Foundation will hold its 20th annual Tower of Hope Gala on Thursday, May 12, at 6 p.m. at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The event will honor Dr. John Carpten, Nancy Mishkin, and Drs. Ghazal and Sepehr Rokhsar for their dedication to ending cancer and their commitment to raising awareness about the disease.
Tower Cancer Research Foundation advances research and funds programs for people affected by cancer through local community partnerships and Magnolia House, its flagship support program.
Carpten is professor and chair for the Department of Translational Genomics, and director of the Institute for Translational Genomics, at USC’s Keck School of Medicine. Mishkin, a sculptor, is devoted to giving back to the community. The daughter of Holocaust survivors, Mishkin has created a bronze sculpture for the Children’s Burn Foundation and joined its council, and gifted a sculpture to Sonance, which supports the House Ear Institute.
Ghazal and Sepehr Rokhsar are founding members of TCRF’s auxiliary funding group, Cancer Free Generation, which promotes awareness and raises funds for young investigator grants and community partnership programs.
Gala tickets start at $750. The Beverly Hilton Hotel is located at 9876 Wilshire Blvd. For information, call (310)299-8470, or visit towercancer.org.
