In observance of National Bicycle Safety Month in May, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is reminding drivers to follow the speed limit and watch for cyclists.
To help keep cyclists and pedestrians safe, the sheriff’s department will conduct traffic safety operations throughout May focused on the most dangerous driver behaviors such as speeding, making illegal turns, failure to yield to bicyclists and pedestrians, and stop sign and red light running. Drivers are cautioned to slow down and follow the speed limit, and to be careful traveling through intersections. Always look carefully for bicyclists and pedestrians before making a turn or opening a car door near streets or bike paths.
