American Jewish University has announced the promotion of Aaron Goldberg, formerly camp director, to vice president of AJU and director of Camp Alonim. Goldberg will manage camp operations, specialty programming and the staff experience, and expand his involvement in senior-level decisions.
“Aaron has been instrumental in building Camp Alonim into what it is today, and we are thrilled to promote him to the well-deserved role as vice president,” said Jeffrey Herbst, president of American Jewish University. “We look forward to seeing how he continues to develop best-in-class programming and build unique experiences for each and every Alonim camper.”
Goldberg has spent more than 20 years at Jewish summer camp, first as a camper starting at the age of 2, then counselor in training, counselor and head counselor. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, and recently received a master’s degree in education from the American Jewish University.
Goldberg joined Camp Alonim in 2014 as an assistant director overseeing the teen and community programs. He also served as associate director managing day-to-day camp operations, specialty programming and the staff experience. Most recently, Aaron served as camp director and helped create camp programming throughout the pandemic.
“I am beyond humbled to be part of the Camp Alonim community and am proud of the growth that the camp has made in recent years,” Goldberg said. “I am delighted in this new role and look forward to making an impact in this capacity within the Camp Alonim community and family.”
