Los Angeles City Council President Pro Tempore Mitch O’Farrell, 13th District, chair of the Energy, Climate Change, Environmental Justice and River Committee, celebrated Earth Day on April 22 by participating in an eight-mile bike ride with advocates for immigration, tenants, social justice and the environment. Participants included representatives of the Bresee Foundation, Community Warriors 4 Peace, Homies Unidos and the Salvadoran American Leadership and Educational Fund.
“Earth Day is as much about equity and environmental justice as it is about protecting our natural environment,” O’Farrell said. “Celebrating this day with a bike ride along the Los Angeles River in partnership with social and environmental justice advocates sends a clear message that we must work collectively to restore our green spaces for all Angelenos.”
