Re “Roxbury home could be demolished,” April 14 issue
Just because you can do something does not mean that you should. Good advice. The home at 1001 Roxbury has stood the test of time and like a vintage automobile or an old masters oil painting, it has only become better with age.
The city of Beverly Hills has a terrible track record regarding preserving and respecting its cultural history. The built landscape is an integral part of that history and legacy.
This particular home captures time and place in a way that is totally unique and inspires people who walk or drive by. It transports you, like all good art or music.
This building deserves respect and needs to be protected for the benefit of the future. Looking toward the future in any meaningful way always includes respecting the past.
Please, respect is warranted for 1001 Roxbury.
