The Mid City West Neighborhood Council is holding a community clean-up project on Saturday, March 26, from 8:30-10 a.m. at Rosewood Gardens, a small pocket park at Fairfax and Rosewood avenues, adjacent to the southwest corner of the Fairfax High School campus.
At 145 square feet, Rosewood Gardens is one of the smallest parks in Los Angeles. It features seating and small tables.
Volunteers will perform light gardening and pick up trash in the park, and the surrounding neighborhood. Approximately 25-35 volunteers are expected for the clean-up, including volunteers from local businesses on Fairfax Avenue. Cofax Coffee is donating coffee and the owners are volunteering. Members of Inner City Arts will also participate.
The clean-up is part of the first phase of Mid City West’s beautification of Rosewood Gardens. In December, the council was awarded $2,500 from Los Angeles Office of Community Beautification’s Keep LA Beautiful program. The grant was matched by Councilman Paul Koretz, 5th District, and Hackman Capital Partners. The funds will be used by Inner City Arts to design and install a mural at the park.
