The Wilshire Rotary Club of Los Angeles honored local volunteers, firefighters and police officers on Feb. 2 at its annual First Responders Appreciation event.
Each year, honorees who provide exceptional and distinguished service in the local area are recognized by the Wilshire Rotary Club of Los Angeles. This year’s honorees are volunteer Lyn Cohen, president of the First-In Fire Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to connecting communities to local fire stations; Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Frank Larez and firefighter Dana Castro, of Fire Station 29 at 4029 Wilshire Blvd.; and Capt. Sonia Monico and officer Joshua Parker, of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division.
“Our annual recognition and awards event gives us an opportunity to extend our gratitude to these deserving women and men who serve us bravely and are an integral part of our community,” said Joyce Kleifield, president of the Wilshire Rotary Club of Los Angeles. “This year has been extremely challenging for our police officers and firefighters with the ongoing pandemic, so it is wonderful to be able to honor them in this small way.”
