Los Angeles County is preparing an environmental impact report for the proposed La Brea Tar Pits Master Plan, which will reimagine the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum on the Miracle Mile.
The EIR will provide an assessment of the project’s probable environmental effects, pursuant to state of California requirements under the California Environmental Quality Act. The county’s review process starts with the release of a notice of preparation and a virtual public scoping meeting on Wednesday, March 2, in which community members can ask questions and provide input on the project. Two sessions will be held at 2:30 and 5:30 p.m.
Residents can also submit input on the project by email to reimagine@tarpits.org or mail them no later than 5:30 p.m. on March 16 to Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County, Richard Hayden, Assistant Deputy Director, 900 Exposition Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90007. As the process continues, the county will provide updates, public documents and information at tarpits.org/public-process.
