Sugar Goat cakes at Girl & the Goat
Chef Stephanie Izards’ bakery Sugar Goat now offers items for purchase at the Girl & the Goat downtown location. Along with Pastry Chef De Cuisine Faith Taheny, Izard offers a range of six-inch cakes that feed four to eight people. Traditional flavors include “All the Chocolate, “Citrus Cake” and “Breakfast in Lima,” made with plantain cake, a coffee-lime caramel filling and chocolate ganache. Celebrate Christmas Eve with friends and family with dinner at Culina. Chef Giovanni Spataro is preparing a four-course menu for $145 per person and a supplemental wine pairing for $95. A lavish Christmas Day buffet, served from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., will offer breakfast favorites, seafood and sushi options, farmers market salads and artisan cheese. Santa Brunch at The Peninsula
A festive spin on Belvedere’s traditional brunch will be held on Dec. 19 as a lively jazz band playing holiday music. Chef and owner Charles Namba is making Colonel Sanders’ style fried chicken for guests to bring home. OTOTO’s JFC (Japanese fried chicken) dinner includes five pieces of bone-in buttermilk fried chicken along with sides of shrimp macaroni gratin, daikon salad, cabbage slaw with sweet potato vinegar, a large biscuit from the restaurant All Day Baby and a strawberry roll cake from Konbi. The largest rooftop bar in Hollywood has been transformed into a festive, life-size gingerbread house decked with royal icing, candy canes and gingerbread men. Get a peek into what n/naka’s Niki Nakayama and Carole Iida-Nakayama are set to present when they open n/soto in Mid City in late January, 2022. An n/soto pop-up will be held at the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center’s brand new culinary facility. Chef Yoji Tajima, along with Nakayama and Iida-Nakayama, have created two California Japanese izakaya holiday menus. With a focus on market-driven products, the menu features eight courses that include snow crab with tosazu jelly, temarizushi with wagyu beef Tatami and oyster, tori kamameshi donabe (chicken kettle rice) and lobster tail with miso butter. A seasonal dessert will provide a sweet ending. Early and late seating is available for Dec. 22-23, while early seating will be offered on Dec. 24.
