Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division are warning the public about a recent trend of stolen and burglarized construction trucks.
Investigators said work trucks are being stolen and later recovered with tools missing. They are encouraging vehicle owners to use GPS monitoring devices to help authorities locate the suspects and vehicles.
The devices are small enough to fit on a key ring and can be affixed to most compartments of a vehicle, including the interior of tool boxes. Vehicle owners can monitor the devices from cell phones and computers.
When detectives and uniformed officers are conducting investigations, the real-time information provided by tracking devices can be essential in recovering property, authorities said.
Wilshire Division personnel can provide information about the devices and encouraged people to call (213)473-0459, or email wilshire@lapd.online.
