The Beverly Hills Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are reminding the public to celebrate the holiday season responsibly by not driving while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
The departments are committed to keeping communities safe during the holidays and encourage people to use a designated sober driver if they have consumed alcohol or used marijuana and prescription drugs that may cause impairment.
Through New Year’s Day, the BHPD and LASD will deploy additional personnel to look for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The extra enforcement is part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.
“When it comes to consuming drugs and alcohol and driving, there is a right and wrong choice,” BHPD Chief Mark Stainbrook said. “Make the right choice by not driving impaired so everyone is able to enjoy the holidays.”
Funding for the program was provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
