Los Angeles City Council President Pro Tempore Mitch O’Farrell, 13th District, and the Los Angeles City/County Native American Indian Commission are holding a virtual Native American Heritage Month celebration on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. on Facebook.
Advocates Tracy M. Ball, Angie Dorame Behrns and Tazbah Rose Chavez will be honored for helping Native Americans reclaim their past and correct false narratives. O’Farrell, who is a member of the Wyandotte Nation, said the event will also recognize the sacrifices made by indigenous people and reflect on their contributions.
The City Council on Nov. 3 approved the Indigenous LAnd Initiative, a package of legislation introduced by O’Farrell to address the city’s past and transform its policies moving forward with regards to indigenous Native Americans.
