The WeSPARK Cancer Support Center celebrated its 20th Anniversary this month with an evening of comedy at its sold-out signature benefit “May Contain Nuts! A Night of COMEDY” held at the Skirball Cultural Center on Oct. 12.
In addition to the in-person event, supporters were also able to attend virtually via a private livestream. The evening began with a VIP red carpet followed by a silent auction, dinner and live comedy performances featuring headliners Kevin Nealon, Wendy Liebman, Tom Papa and host Alonzo Bodden.
WeSPARK board president Scott Williams and writer and producer Bob Gale presented The Heart of WeSPARK Award to WeSPARK executive director Nancy Allen for her 20 years of service and leadership to the organization. A special congratulatory retrospective film, produced by Gale, featured many luminaries including Allen’s Blow Out co-star John Travolta, Tim Matheson and Jason Alexander thanking Allen for her visionary leadership and dedication to WeSPARK over the past two decades.
“It’s an honor to be awarded The Heart of WeSPARK Award,” Allen said. “I’m so grateful that WeSPARK’s mission became my personal mission.”
Additional celebrity and VIP guests included WeSPARK board member Mark L. Walberg, Ed Begley, Jr., Rachelle-Carson Begley, DeAnn Heline and Marcus Miller.
