The Los Angeles Zoo is dialing up the fun for the weekend to cap off its monthlong Halloween celebration.

Trick-or-treat stations will be located through the zoo on Oct. 30-31 while supplies last. Sponsor the 99 Cents Only Store will provide children with wildlife-friendly candy and free treat bags. Kids are encouraged to wear their costumes as they collect their sweet treats.

Halloween décor and an extinct animal graveyard will honor departed species and teach patrons how to help save at-risk animals.

A boo-tiful pumpkin patch will offer fun family photo opportunities. Families may also take a “spooky stroll” through a themed area and learn weird, wacky facts throughout the zoo.

The final October weekend includes special animal feedings and creepy spider web kits at the Craft Station. In The Lair, come face to face with rare snakes, poisonous frogs and venomous lizards.

For more hair-raising fun, check out live shows in Adventure Theater. “AbracaZoo! Magic,” presented by magician Brandon Scott, will bring audience members to the funny side of the twilight zone at 11:30 a.m. At 2:30 p.m., catch “Spooktacular Science,” where a mad scientist conjures up spine-tingling experiments, bubbling potions and other fun surprises in his spirited lab.

Stop by an education station to learn about native California critters, the sharp teeth of carnivores and the wacky adaptations animals have made throughout history.

On Oct. 30, peccariers will receive their Halloween snack at 11:30 a.m. and the jaguars will devour their pumpkins at 1:30 p.m. On Halloween, the snow leopards will get a treat at 11:30 a.m., and the elephants chow down at 1:30 p.m.

The special events are free to all patrons with the price of admission or those with a GLAZA membership.
