A 20-year-old man from Los Angeles has been charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon for a shooting that wounded three men on Aug. 27 near the intersection of De Longpre and Fountain avenues in West Hollywood.

Authorities believe the suspect, identified as Derrion Gray, attempted to rob the three victims at gunpoint, and a struggle ensued in which all four people, including the suspect, were shot.

West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station deputies received reports at approximately 4:15 a.m. of multiple shots being fired at the intersection. They found three victims suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds, said Detective Omar Luevano of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station. A fourth man, who deputies later determined was the alleged suspect, was located on Kings Road, less than one block from the other victims.

All four men were taken to a hospital. Luevano said detectives investigated the shooting throughout the day and determined the man found on Kings Road was the alleged suspect. Investigators have not recovered the gun used in the shooting, Luevano added.

The victims, all in their 20s, are from New York, the detective added. Investigators believe the suspect followed them from Hollywood to the location where the attempted robbery occurred. Luevano said two of the victims remain hospitalized and are expected to be released by the end of the week. Gray remains in custody on $1 million bail.
