As the end of summer nears, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is reminding the public about the dangers of drinking and driving.
To help keep communities safe during the Labor Day weekend, additional deputies will be deployed through Sept. 6. The deputies will be looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The increased efforts to address impaired driving are part of a national enforcement campaign. In addition to patrols, the sheriff’s department will hold DUI checkpoints at many undisclosed locations.
“Driving impaired is risky and puts yourself and others around you in serious danger,” said Sgt. Robert Hill, with the department’s Traffic Services Detail. “If you are taking a road trip over the next few weeks, make good choices and drive like your closest friends and family are in the cars around you.”
