The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Sept. 20 launched Keep Metro Clean and Safe, an awareness and compliance campaign promoting a shared responsibility between employees and riders to protect against COVID-19 and improve the customer experience.
Through the campaign, Metro is working to increase compliance with wearing masks on buses and trains, and limiting smoking and littering on the system. Customers have consistently raised those concerns as the top factors in whether they would continue riding the system, Metro officials said.
The campaign is part of a broader effort to restore ridership to pre-pandemic levels and serve new customers.
Metro employees will provide friendly reminders to customers to encourage their voluntary compliance with wearing masks, and distribute free masks to those who do not have them.
