The Los Angeles’ Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department is distributing anti-hate posters and social media graphics in Hebrew, with resources for reporting hate crimes and hate incidents.
The Hebrew-language posters are part of the L.A. for All campaign, which combines local artwork with resources for reporting hate crimes in 17 languages.
“Everything we do at L.A. Civil Rights is rooted in inclusion and love for all of Los Angeles, and the L.A. for All campaign is a call to all Angelenos to join us in this mission,” said Capri Maddox, executive director of the Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department. “We know that anti-Semitism is on the rise, and the fear already felt by the community is heightened [with] Rosh Hashanah. We want to make it absolutely clear that L.A. is for everyone, and L.A. protects and stands with its Jewish communities.”
“As council member for the 5th District, which has deep roots for the Jewish community, I want to make sure that all Jewish people know the rights and resources they have when facing hate,” Councilman Paul Koretz said. “According to the Anti-Defamation League’s annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents, 2019 and 2020 were, respectively, the highest and third-highest years on record for cases of harassment, vandalism and assault against Jews in the United States since tracking began in 1979. These numbers are shocking and heartbreaking, but they are also a call to action.”
To request a poster, visit bit.ly/laforallposters, or call Koretz’s office at (213)473-7005. People are urged to call 911 if they see a crime in progress. For information, visit civilandhumanrights.lacity.org.
