The city of West Hollywood is co-sponsoring the Vanderpump Dog Foundation’s fifth annual World Dog Day, which will bring together hundreds of people and their furry friends on Saturday, Aug. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at West Hollywood Park. All activities will be outdoors and socially distanced. Masks are encouraged.
Started in 2016, the family-friendly event will include live performances and DJs sponsored by SUR Restaurant and Lounge; an adoption area with rescue dogs sponsored by Zappos; an animal education area sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc.; a doggy agility park; doggy fashion show featuring past adopted rescue dogs and celebrity judges; exhibitors featuring pet-friendly products and services; and food trucks. Celebrities anticipated to attend include Lance Bass, Michael Turchin Bass, James Kennedy, Lala Kent, Raquel Leviss, Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval and Lisa Vanderpump.
World Dog Day also raises awareness about dog abuse worldwide. The Vanderpump Dog Foundation has rescued and facilitated the adoption of more than 2,300 dogs.
Admission is free and open to the public. All dogs must be on leashes. West Hollywood Park is located at 647 N. San Vicente Blvd. For information, call (323)848-6400, or visit weho.org and vanderpumpdogs.org/world-dog-day.
