The city of West Hollywood will host an Eastside Community Update teleconference meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 6:30 p.m., via Zoom.

The meeting will include updates from city staff about projects and initiatives impacting the eastside of West Hollywood, as well as an opportunity to provide comments about issues and concerns. Residents and community members who are interested in learning more about city services, projects, programs and improvements are encouraged to attend.

Community members are encouraged to submit topics of conversation and concern at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Language translation services can also be arranged in advance. To submit concerns or to request translation services, email jduckworth@weho.org.

“If you live, work or play on the eastside of West Hollywood, you won’t want to miss the Eastside Community Update meeting,” West Hollywood Mayor Pro Tempore Lauren Meister said. “This virtual town hall will give eastside constituents an opportunity to hear from staff at City Hall, ask questions and offer feedback and comments in a public forum about important issues and concerns impacting the eastside.”

“As the only council member who lives on the eastside of West Hollywood, I’m glad to see our city prioritizing getting feedback from our residents, businesses and stakeholders,” West Hollywood Councilman John M. Erickson said. “This meeting is an excellent opportunity to ask and get answers to your most pressing questions. Your participation will help shape the future of our neighborhood.”

The eastside of West Hollywood has gone through many changes over the decades. With an urban design and character that is distinguished from surrounding neighborhoods, the eastside is bounded by La Brea, Fountain and Hayworth avenues, and Willoughby Avenue and Romaine Street to the south.

The eastside is home to the city’s Russian-speaking community and includes many locally-oriented community markets and shops. The Gateway project at La Brea Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard spurred an interest in development and the area has experienced growth in new residential units, further revitalizing the neighborhood.

In 2017, West Hollywood adopted the Eastside Community Priorities Plan, which outlines dynamic opportunities of the future while retaining neighborhood charm.
