Hollywood Temple Beth El has announced that it will be holding its High Holy Days services online. This year’s observances coincide with the temple’s 100th anniversary.
Rosh Hashanah begins at sunset on Monday, Sept. 6, and runs through Wednesday, Sept. 8. Yom Kippur begins at sunset on Wednesday, Sept. 15, and continues through Thursday, Sept. 16.
“This has been a very disheartening period for so many, with the threat of COVID-19 and now, the Delta variant,” Rabbi Norbert Weinberg said. “Naturally, even those who have been properly vaccinated are concerned. However, that this congregation has made it into its 100th year, despite so many ups and downs, is a reminder that we too, as Jews, Americans [and] humans on this planet, will find there are more ups than downs.”
Weinberg will lead High Holy Days services with Cantor Isaac Boudaie. The services will be enhanced by streaming music from other choirs and cantors.
Because of concerns of the spread of the Delta variant, the services will be livestreamed via Zoom. Log in information and passwords will be sent to everyone who registers through Eventbrite by visiting eventbrite.com/e/high-holy-days-at-hollywood-temple-beth-el-tickets-165640766993. For information, call the temple at (323)428-9817.
First night Rosh Hashanah services and Neila at the end of Yom Kippur will be streamed on Facebook and YouTube and can be viewed by visiting facebook.com/htbel/live and youtube.com/channel/UCUIqJSPikcnCs0-7vD2PWww.
