El Capitan Theatre will host a special screening of Disney/Pixar’s “Soul” Aug. 27 through Sept. 2.
The film follows jazz musician Joe Gardner as he travels from the streets of New York City to The Great Before — a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth.
In an effort to get back to Earth, Gardner teams up with a soul, 22, who has never understood the appeal of a human experience. As Gardner tries to show 22 what’s great about living, he discovers answers to some of life’s most important questions.
The film is directed by Academy Award winner Pete Docter and features the voices of Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Phylicia Rashad, Questlove and Daveed Diggs.
The film, rated PG for some language, will be shown in Dolby Vision Laser Projection and Dolby Atmos Audio Technology.
Daily showtimes are 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., though showtimes and dates are subject to change.
Before the film, El Capitan Theatre will play two Pixar SparkShorts: “Twenty Something” and “Nona.” On Fridays and Saturdays, guests also may enjoy a Mighty Wurlitzer Organ performance of Disney favorites.
Tickets are $12 for all ages and are on sale now at ElCapitanTickets.com. All tickets include a 64-oz popcorn tub.
The El Capitan Theatre has taken enhanced health and safety measures for its guests and cast members. All guests ages 2 and older must wear a face covering at all times, except while eating or drinking in their reserved seats.
