Metro is holding a webinar with updates on the Purple Line Extension project on Wednesday, July 7, from noon to 1 p.m., via Zoom. The meeting will include information about sections one and two of the project from Wilshire/Western to Century City/Constellation. To view the meeting, visit zoom.us/j/96626476708#success, and use the webinar ID: 966 2647 6708.
Crews are working at many locations along the route, including section three between the Century City/Constellation and Westwood/VA Hospital stations. Metro contractors will work in the CalTrans basin near the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway from June 25-28 and July 9-12. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday. The work includes tree removal, excavation and drainage structure installation.
Pile installation will also occur on ramps for the San Diego (405) Freeway from June 25-28, and July 9-12. The work will require full closures of the southbound freeway on-ramps and off-ramps at Wilshire Boulevard. Work hours will be from 10 p.m. on Friday through 5 a.m. on Monday.
In Century City, work is occurring 24 hours underneath Constellation Boulevard. Partial traffic lane closures are in place in the area. Vehicle access on Constellation Boulevard will be maintained between Century Park West and Century Park East. All driveways will remain accessible from Constellation Boulevard.
Work also continues on the future subway stations at Wilshire/Rodeo and Wilshire/La Cienega. Crews are working on appendage structures that house vital systems at the future subway station at Wilshire/La Cienega. Lane reductions will be in place along Wilshire Boulevard between San Vicente and La Cienega boulevards through fall of 2022. Gale Drive will also be intermittently closed at Wilshire Boulevard to support construction in the Gale staging yard.
Near Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Brea, work also continues on appendage structures for the future subway stations. Intermittent lane reductions on Wilshire Boulevard may be in place around the station construction staging areas. Orange Grove Avenue will be closed through 2022 and Ogden Drive will be closed intermittently south of Wilshire Boulevard.
Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between Detroit and June streets through September. Hauling and deliveries will continue to and from the La Brea Avenue staging yards.
Underground construction is also ongoing at work zones along Wilshire Boulevard and at a staging yard near Wilshire/Western. Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Wilshire Boulevard near the construction staging areas.
