Ocean Prime Pacific halibut special
It’s halibut season and Ocean Prime Beverly Hills is serving the fresh white fish with spring peas, fava beans, wild mushrooms, fennel, roasted fingerling potatoes and a yellow tomato vinaigrette. Pair the dish with a Cakebread sauvignon blanc, offering a crisp acidity and grapefruit undertones to complement this entree. A cocktail that also goes nicely is the Ocean Prime’s Pineapple Picante, made with pineapple-infused Herradura Silver Tequila, picante, fresh-squeezed lime juice and orange bitters. This adds a bright, light and slightly spicy accent to the dish. 9595 Wilshire Blvd., (310)859-4818.
Mokuzai sushi opens pop-up
A new restaurant concept from the Cahuenga Group (Madera and Café Solar) offers an Omakase-inspired dining with a modern twist. This pop-up sushi concept, Mokuzai, opens today, on June 24, in a private, lantern-lit park in Hollywood. The all-outdoor dining experience is tucked away behind a pair of wood-hewn gates right at the crossing of Franklin and Cahuenga. Master sushi chef Te Dong combines savory ingredients like chimichurri, umami-rich truffle and fresh wasabi with exceptional sashimi and locally sourced, seasonal produce. Dinner service is Tuesday through Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m. Walk-ins only.
Byrdie’s rotisserie chicken
A new concept by the Bacari team opened in West Hollywood with executive chef Lior Hillel’s special rotisserie chicken recipe. Diners can order a whole rotisserie chicken, rotisserie wing and bone broth options, too. During the opening, Byrdie’s matched meals ordered with an in-kind meal donation to the L.A. Regional Food Bank. Daily hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for on-site dining, takeout and delivery. Order on Toast at toasttab.com/byrdies-8030-w-3rd-st/v3/. 8030 W. Third St.
