Re “City adopts Complete Streets Plan for Improved Mobility,” May 27 issue
The Beverly Hills City Council realizes that balancing the needs of bicyclists, pedestrians, transit riders and motorists is a tremendous undertaking. Proceeding with caution, as it should, and allowing for public comment makes good sense.
I have questions. How will the Metro Purple Line subway extensions impact these plans for improved mobility, will transit ridership improve or are we just dreaming? Likewise, for adding bicycle lanes, which may go largely empty as they now do. What about automobile congestion and parking spaces?
I certainly do not have the answers. I hope we have the expertise on board to answer those questions before we spend billions on this project. We certainly do not want to do more harm than good.
