The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Advocate & Gochis Galleries presents a new online exhibition titled “Arrested Movement” that is currently available for viewing featuring the photography of Anthony Patrick Manieri.
“Arrested Movement” is an inclusive portrait series and awareness initiative celebrating and promoting positive body image for men. What started for Manieri as a single photography session with 10-12 men to be showcased in a gallery exhibit quickly morphed into a movement through social media.
It has allowed Manieri to photograph men in different cities around the world. He listens to their stories and personal struggles and works with them to develop a healthy, loving relationship with their bodies. The inclusive series focuses on men of all races, sizes and physical abilities, as well as transgender men and two-spirit men. It follows the theme that all are welcome, all are beautiful and all matter.
Manieri, a professional photographer and art director based in Toronto, Canada, said his meditation and mindfulness practice attracted him to the idea of body positivity.
“Our bodies can hear us, so we need to be kind to ourselves,” Manieri said.
