The Los Angeles Public Library, in partnership with the Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Garden, is celebrating American science-fiction author Octavia E. Butler during the month of June.
The first event, “‘Parable of the Sower’ Book Club Chat,” is scheduled for June 5 at 4 p.m. and features a discussion about Butler’s novel. Other events include a virtual tour of the Octavia Lab, a digital media makerspace that has shifted to create medical grade face shields over the past two months, on June 18 at 4 p.m., and a discussion with journalist, essayist and author Lynne George about her new book “A Handful of Earth, A Handful of Sky: The World of Octavia E. Butler” on June 25 at 4 p.m.
