Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer announced on May 3 that his office has secured a court order against a woman who allegedly sold illegal pharmaceuticals outside of a supermarket in east Hollywood.

The defendant, Martha Siguenza, was arrested last December for allegedly selling misbranded drugs on the sidewalk in front of Jons Marketplace on Third Street near Normandie Boulevard. Siguenza was ordered to wear a GPS monitor for 360 days. She has been prosecuted three previous times on similar charges, Feuer said.

“No one should ever buy pharmaceuticals on the sidewalk,” Feuer added. “Who knows if the medication is authentic, is even allowed to be sold here or worse, been laced with an ingredient that could kill you? This case highlights our continuing focus on stopping the sale of dangerous illegal pharmaceuticals in our communities.”
