As part of efforts to enhance safety and sustainability, the city of West Hollywood will use light emitting diode illumination in all streetlights.
Existing streetlights will be retrofitted with LEDs and all new streetlights will use the technology, which is significantly more energy-efficient than existing conventional light sources. The LED lights use 30% to 40% less electricity, which also increases their cost-efficiency, city officials said. The new streetlights will be equipped with a remote monitoring system that will allow city staff to more expediently detect and repair outages. The LED streetlights will also provide better lighting, enhancing visibility and safety. For information, visit weho.org/gogreen.
