Los Angeles Police Department traffic investigators are asking for the public’s help in solving three unrelated hit-and-run collisions occurring since early February that claimed one life and severely injured two other people.

The most recent collision occurred at approximately 6:25 a.m. on March 11. A white pickup was traveling eastbound on Venice Boulevard when it hit a female pedestrian crossing at the intersection at Wilton Place, police said. The victim was in a marked crosswalk. The suspect allegedly drove away without rendering aid.

Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Police described the vehicle as a full-sized Chevrolet pickup. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner identified the victim as Margo Spann, 40.

Another pedestrian was struck and severely injured at approximately 10:10 a.m. on March 6 near Sunset Boulevard and Carmelina Avenue. The suspect’s vehicle was allegedly traveling eastbound on Sunset Boulevard when it struck the victim. The driver momentarily stopped, exited the car and approached the pedestrian before getting back in and fleeing, police said. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a gray, older-model sedan. Investigators with the LAPD’s Central Traffic Division are seeking help in finding a motorist who struck a tow truck driver at approximately 8:05 p.m. on Feb. 6 in east Hollywood. The victim was in the process of towing a vehicle on Virgil Avenue just south of Clinton Street when he was struck by a red sedan, detectives said. The victim had stepped back from the vehicle he was towing to take photographs when he was hit, and his body was thrown approximately 35 feet before landing in the bed of the tow truck, police added.

The victim was hospitalized in the intensive care unit and is currently recovering.
