A defendant was sentenced on March 9 to eight years in federal prison for deceiving women he met online and elsewhere, convincing them to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars into sham companies and spending their money on himself.
Antonio Mariot Wilson, 58, also known as Brice Carrington and Dr. Tony Mariot, was also ordered to pay $272,000 in restitution. Wilson pleaded guilty last June to one count of wire fraud.
From May 2015 to October 2018, Wilson defrauded four women with whom he had engaged in romantic relationships, including actress Jenifer Lewis. Wilson convinced them to invest money in sham companies and used the money to fund his personal expenses. He previously served a four-year term for wire fraud and tax evasion.
