The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is hosting a virtual public hearing on the draft 2020 Urban Water Management Plan on Saturday, March 13, at 10 a.m. to provide an opportunity for the public to review and provide input. The public comment period ends on April 13.
The UWMP will serve as the city’s master plan for reliable water supply and resources management for the next 25 years. The draft 2020 UWMP calls for reducing the city’s reliance on purchased, imported water supplies by building resilient, sustainable local water systems through groundwater recharge, stormwater capture, additional conservation and maximized water recycling.
The final 2020 UWMP is expected to be presented to the LADWP Board of Water and Power Commissioners in May. After it is adopted by the board, LADWP will submit the 2020 UWMP to the state Department of Water Resources by July 1. Public comment received from the public hearing will be considered in the preparation of the UWMP update. The draft 2020 UWMP can be viewed at ladwp.com/uwmp. Public comments can also be submitted by emailing uwmp@ladwp.com.
