Join the Petersen Automotive Museum for a virtual tour focusing on the 1942 Lincoln Zephyr Presidential Limousine, available for viewing on the museum’s YouTube channel.
The program is hosted by Petersen Automotive Museum Chief Historian Leslie Kendall. The historic vehicle is named after President Franklin D. Roosevelt and has been used by several of the nation’s top officials, including Presidents Harry Truman and George W. Bush, before it was retired from service.
The White House ordered the Lincoln Zephyr from Ford Motor Company to be entirely custom-built with heavy armoring, bulletproof glass and thick steel plates under the floor to protect the president. The 1942 Lincoln, which is now part of “The Vault presented by Hagerty” tour at the museum, represents a time in history when luxurious vehicles merged with wartime manufacturing to produce a stately limousine worthy of presidential protection.
The tour is among many virtual programs available by visiting youtube.com/user/petersenmuseum.
