With Mardi Gras fast approaching on Feb. 16, the Original Farmers Market is offering a taste of NOLA at Third and Fairfax with specials that will transport customers to a true New Orleans-style Mardi Gras celebration.
Cajun favorite the Gumbo Pot will be offering holiday-themed family feasts, including the Le Grande Mardi Gras Family Feast and Le Petite Mardi Gras Family Feast available to serve two-to-four people ($40) or four-to-six people ($65), respectively. The Gumbo Pot is also offering Mardi Gras classics like jambalaya, seafood gumbo, cornbread and more.
Weather permitting, the Gumbo Pot’s Owner Clinton Thompson will host a beignet and chicory coffee pop-up on the Market Plaza on Feb. 13 and 14 bringing more New Orleans’ classics to the celebration.
Bar 326 will also join in on the Mardi Gras fun by offering holiday beer favorites to-go, with options such as Abita Amber and Purple Haze. Beers will be available for $5 each or as a four-pack for $18. All family feasts and beers purchased to-go include purple, green and gold traditional Mardi Gras beads.
French bakery Michelina Artisan Boulanger will be stocked with traditional king galettes, a French take on a NOLA classic holiday treat. Creamy almond filled cake is sandwiched between two flaky, buttery layers of puff pastry. Slices are $9 and a 10-inch cake is $49, available for home delivery by visiting mercato. com.
For the furry four-legged friends, the Dog Bakery is offering a 15% discount on all Mardi Gras-themed items including collars and dog toys, and special “Mutti Gras” cookies decorated in purple green and yellow. Any pet that visits the Dog Bakery, in costume on Feb. 13 and 14, or Fat Tuesday, Feb. 16, will receive a free mini-pack of “Mutti Gras” cookies.
