A 28-year-old man was arrested on Feb. 22 and booked for the alleged Jan. 10 murder of a woman in Koreatown.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Bureau Homicide Unit identified Lamont Dorsey as the suspect. An LAPD-FBI Fugitive Task Force located him at approximately 7:20 a.m. on Monday in the 900 block of Olive Street, downtown. Police did not divulge how they located the suspect. Dorsey was held without bail pending court proceedings.

The suspect is accused of killing a woman at approximately 1:10 a.m. on Jan. 10 near Mariposa Street and Council Avenue. Police received calls about a shooting and officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. The assailant also shot the victim’s dog, which survived, police said.

Authorities identified the victim as Katharine McNally, 38. Police believe the motive was likely robbery, said Detective Sean Kinchla, with the West Bureau Homicide Unit.

“It doesn’t look like there was any relationship between the two,” he said. “It was possibly robbery, but the investigation is ongoing.”
